「屋形船」の原型は平安時代。
貴族等の特権階級の遊びとして生まれました。
江戸時代になると河川の整備や堀を移動する手段として、水上交通が著しく発展。
屋形船の船体も豪華絢爛となり、大名や豪商などが花見や月見、花火や納涼などの遊びを目的に愛用され、
「料亭より格式が高い」と親しまれてきました。
その後、屋形船は一気に江戸の庶民まで広がり、いつしか江戸の民を賑わす
『娯楽』=『エンターテイメント』に昇華。
現代に残る江戸文化として、令和の現在に紡がれています。
